Ok, I think I finally solved my IE7 z-index bug which has been plaguing me since I started this site.
The problem was my logo, which had a higher z-index was appearing on top of every browser, except IE. Well, I had called the div inside my main body div… and that was causing the problem.
So I put the logo div on top, before the header, and it seems to have worked
I still think IE is evil, by the way ![]()

Ok It has been a while, mostly because I have just forgotten to write this blog!
I am also dealing with a lot of spammers here. So I have decided if you want to leave a message, that is fine… But if you leave an unrelated link, it will be removed.
If you leave anything sexual in nature… seeing that I HATE sex, I will be extremely offended and I will post your IP and Email for other spambots to pick up and spam you.

So I have decided to finally work on the front page of my site. It is, after all the most important page in a website!
I do what I always do, get out my sketchbook and draw out a bunch of ideas
The first idea was pretty good on paper, but when I got it into illustrator, I realized that it was not going to work at all
So I went back to the drawing board and came up with this ribbon idea
after working on it, i realized that I made something that would be a pretty cute card for me! So I got it laid out
This is what I am playing around with

Ok, I now have some time to work on this site! yeah!!
Along with my work, I have been busy thinking about what to do with this site and blog
. First of all, I finished one of the biggest parts of this site, the gallery
Now all I need to do is finish the contact page, attach the RSS and make the main page. I hope to have everything up and running soon.
I have decided that I am going to use this blog to really focus on cuteness and kawaii in general. I will put my own work in my gallery.
You can access it here or by the link at the top

I will never forget my high school political science teacher, Mr. Bill Thompson. Mr. Thompson would always remind us hardworking students of the value of the KISS rule… Keep It Simple Stupid. Then, in college, one of my best professors, Dr. G., spent many years as a newspaper editor. He would often talk about the differences between media people and the “ivory tower.” The Ivory tower was where all the professors (especially english professors) shared their knowledge amongst themselves. You had to know a special set of jargon just to enter. Basically, it was overtly complicated.
I will have to agree with these two teachers of mine. Keeping things simple makes it more accessible, and makes the message more clear.
Unfortunately, recent web design has forgotten this rule. There are a lot of pages out there which are poorly designed, and with too much clutter. I think all the clutter (for example, ads by google, tag clouds, etc) really distracts from the message! I can understand why people would like all this information, but there is a point where it becomes information overload.
So what should we do?
Remember the KISS rule
Keep it simple stupid.

Ok, the other day I was going to work and I decided to pull out my sketch book and start drawing while standing on the bumpy train
Me, being the little lolita designer that I am, decided to draw macaroons.
So I scanned my chicken scratches in and opened up illustrator.
I still think it is absolutely amazing when your illustration comes alive! Now I really want to finish all 16 that i drew, but I thin 12 will be enough for a good design
here is #1

Although it may be too early to tell, but I think Apple fixed a lot of the save/open bugs on their release of OS 10.6.2
I tested opening and saving files (in a variety of formats) in Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign without any crashes.
This is very welcome news for me, for now I can get back to making some much needed web-graphics.
So this is a welcome update for those of us who have spent the last two months praying that your file will save correctly…
