Future project:  Macaroons

Ok, the other day I was going to work and I decided to pull out my sketch book and start drawing while standing on the bumpy train

Me, being the little lolita designer that I am, decided to draw macaroons.

So I scanned my chicken scratches in and opened up illustrator.

I still think it is absolutely amazing when your illustration comes alive!  Now I really want to finish all 16 that i drew, but I thin 12 will be enough for a good design

here is #1

Photoshop fix…

Although it may be too early to tell, but I think Apple fixed a lot of the save/open bugs on their release of OS 10.6.2

I tested opening and saving files (in a variety of formats) in Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign without any crashes.

This is very welcome news for me, for now I can get back to making some much needed web-graphics.

So this is a welcome update for those of us who have spent the last two months praying that your file will save correctly…

bunny pictures

I am working on a series of bunny pictures. That is why I haven't been updating this blog as much as I should. Anyway, I have been storing the pictures on my deviant and behance accounts because the file upload onto my site has been crashing my browser.

But here are a few pictures of my bunny series. I have about 10 more left to go, then I am going to be making and selling postcard sets smile

This just shows you what I have been working on lately :-)

expermental vector watercolor

Since Illustrator seems to be working better for me these days, I have decided to try to make a vector watercolor.  The image is not that good, but the fact that this is all vector is what is impressive.  Once I refine the technique a bit, things will get better smile

A lesson in cuteness

Just a quick little lesson in cuteness or kawaiisa…

Slight imperfections can make things cute.

Now I am not saying this is always the case.  If you look at hello kitty, she is pretty proportional along with a lot of other Japanese characters…

But if you look really close at the designs done by BABY, there is a slight differences in their proportions!  They noses of animals are not perfect, the eyes are a bit off… the cups are not 100% perfectly straight.  The graphic designer has this LOVELY style, and it isn’t 100% perfect

As for my Princess bunny,  I focused on making her ears slightly loopy and that really added to her character.  It is the imperfections that make her cute, not the perfections.  My friends Skinni talked about this in her thesis on cuteness… (something which I MUST read when I see her).

Anyway, here is my cute princess bunny!

I will be showing more cute examples later
